Psychology Research Experience Program


Travel, food, and logding expenses are covered by the program, and participants receive a stipend.

Mentored laboratory research, paired with scientific instruction in six broad disciplinary categories:


Weekly professional development seminars on such topics as:

  • Ethics In psychological research

  • Preparing graduate school applications

  • Searching and applying for grants and fellowships


Tours of psychology laboratory facilities, including:

  • Neuroimaging (MRI, PET, EEG)

  • Biology of brain and behavior

  • Cognition and cognitive neuroscience

  • Social Cognition

  • Cognitive Development

  • Psychophysiology


End-of-summer PREP Symposium, in which participants present an oral presentation of their research results and conclusions to other PREP students, psychology department faculty and students, and deans and staff from the Graduate School at UW-Madison



Production of a research paper that will be published in an online PREP journal



Graduate School Fair with activities to include:

  • Presentations on applying to graduate school

  • Representatives present from more than 30 graduate programs to answer your questions


Social activities with students from other REU programs, such as:

  • Welcome picnic

  • Evening events at the student union

  • Weekly film series focused on ethical issues in science and culture
