UW-Madison and City Highlights

The UW is located in the capitol city of Wisconsin with a greater metropolitan population of more than 450,000 people. Madison is known as a cultural, creative, diverse, and vibrant city. In summer there are weekly farmers markets, weekly outdoor classical music concerts and weekly outdoor jazz concerts. The University is built along the south shore of Lake Mendota, one of several lakes in the area. Here, students can enjoy nearly nightly outdoor concerts at the Student Union, rent sailboats, swim, or bike or jog along the lakeshore path. The city is 1½ hours northwest of Chicago and 1 hour west of Milwaukee.
